Tattoo artist commissions, tips, and payouts in one ledger

Inksaro records the split you already agreed with each artist, then posts it when you close the day. Tips are not run through that percentage. A tip on a payment is owed in full to the staff member on the sale. Support staff, such as counter or reception, can be excluded from splits and payouts entirely.

The split is a rule, not a spreadsheet cell

On each staff profile you set a split percentage. Sixty means the artist earns 60 percent of the eligible service revenue and the shop keeps 40. You can limit the rule to certain reporting categories, so retail or a specific service bucket is treated differently from tattooing. The percentage is applied at day close, and it shows on the payout ledger and on the reconciliation detail.

Checkout is where the money is entered: the service, retail lines such as aftercare or jewelry, discounts, tax, and up to two payment methods. Each method can carry its own tip. A paid deposit is credited against the balance before those tenders. Walk-in register sales with no appointment can still attribute the sale to a staff member for commission.

Close the day against the terminal batch

Daily reconciliation is per location and per business day. For each in-person tender you see what Inksaro recorded, what you type in from the POS or terminal batch, and the variance. Cash for the day includes appointment balances, walk-in sales, refunds, and deposits taken in the shop for future appointments. Online Stripe deposits are kept out of that in-person count.

Closing the day freezes a snapshot and posts service shares and tips to the ledger. A closed day cannot be edited, and it cannot be voided. Reports for that day read the frozen snapshot, so the end-of-day sheet and the report do not drift apart later.

If a sale was wrong and the day is still open, an owner or admin can void it. Stock goes back, revenue and the ledgers update, and the void stays on record with who did it, when, and why. The sale is not deleted.

What each artist can see

The payout ledger is a running balance of what the studio owes the artist, or what the artist owes the studio. Recorded payouts and paybacks move the balance. Artists can open their own ledger. They do not need the shop's full report access to see their number. Owners and admins see reports, reconciliation, and everyone's payouts. Front desk does not.

Shops with more than one location reconcile and report per location. Artists who work in more than one shop stay on the same studio account. The multi-location price on the pricing section applies when you are running three or more locations.

What this does not do

Inksaro does not replace the card terminal. You still settle the batch and type those totals in. It does not send money to artists by itself. You record the payout when you actually pay them. It does not decide your split for you.

Hair salons, barbershops, nail studios, and spas use the same ledger. The staff noun and the staff types change with the business. That page is Inksaro for other studios.
