Tattoo appointment deposits that hold the chair

Each appointment type has its own deposit amount. A half-day session can require one, a consult can require none. When a client books online and a deposit is due, Inksaro holds the time and sends them to pay. The charge lands in the studio's own Stripe account, in USD or CAD, not in an account Inksaro controls.

The link you actually send

Staff create a deposit link from the appointment. Inksaro opens a Stripe Checkout session on the connected account and a short path, /pay/ plus a code, that is meant to be copied into a text or an email. Card numbers are entered on Stripe. Inksaro keeps the transaction record: amount, status, and Stripe's identifiers.

Public bookings that need a deposit do not confirm first and hope for the best. The appointment waits in a pending-deposit state for one hour. Unpaid holds are released, so the chair goes back on the book. A service with no deposit confirms as soon as the client finishes.

Money taken at the counter

Cash and terminal deposits taken in person are recorded on the appointment, with the payment method. They are part of that business day's reconciliation, including deposits taken today for a session that happens later. Online Stripe deposits are not mixed into that in-person till count. They show up with the other Stripe deposit reporting.

At checkout, a paid deposit is credited against the balance. An unpaid deposit is not. Checkout itself records the in-person tenders — cash, debit, the card brands you take, e-transfer, or a method you add. The card payment for the deposit already happened on Stripe.

Cancel, reschedule, and the one reminder

If a client cancels from their manage-booking link, they see a warning that the deposit is forfeited. Rescheduling keeps a paid deposit. They can move the service, the artist, the location, and the time, as long as the deposit is paid and more than the studio's cutoff is left before the start. That cutoff is configurable from 1 to 720 hours and defaults to 24.

On Plus, someone who still owes a deposit gets one reminder email, about 48 hours after the appointment was created, and not again. Basic does not send that nudge. You can still copy the payment link and send it yourself on either plan.

What you connect first

Online deposits stay off until Stripe is connected in studio settings. In-person deposits can be recorded without that connection. Currency on the studio is USD or CAD, and the marketing prices follow the same two currencies. The deposit amount itself is whatever you set on the appointment type.

The rest of the day — splits, the terminal batch, and what each artist is owed — is covered in artist commissions and payouts. The booking steps are in online booking for tattoo studios.
